Roles & Responsibilities The qualified individual will be responsible for the day-to-day monitoring, escalation and/or resolution of problems and issues pertaining to the Mainframe, AS400, Server / Distributed, Cloud, Batch and Network environments for the 24x7x365 IT Operations Center (ITOC). The incumbent will require knowledge of monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zenoss, SumoLogic, Solarwinds, BSM, etc with hardening experience of monitoring systems. Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows operating systems will be needed. The candidate should have experience with maintaining and resolving issues via command line prompts. Hands on experience of Cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, etc. is a must. Candidate will possess AWS provisioning experience. Ability to design high availability applications on AWS across availability zones and availability regions. Ability to design applications on AWS while taking advantage of disaster recovery guidelines. Oversee application deployment and data migration on AWS as directed. Knowledge of RDBMS systems such as MySQL and SQL a positive as well. Able to use configuration tools such as Chef, Puppet and Salt. Understand load balancing and high availability architectures in an Operations environment. Skilled in 1 or more of the following languages Ruby, Python, ksh, bash, perl and/or SQL. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and DNS, LDAP, NFS and SMTP. In addition, the qualified candidate would be expected to have an knowledge and the ability to perform at a high level in the areas of writing and effectively presenting presentations, status reports, technical diagrams, flowcharts and metrics creation and presentation through Power BI, ability to use problem techniques such as root cause analysis to resolve issues, logging, monitoring and event management correlation and resolution, Change Management, Incident Management and support and the ability to review events for patterns and address root cause. Also, architect infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR and storage architectures. Ability to understand overall system design to ensure integrity is maintained, proactively maintain the health of all environments the ITOC monitors and be available as part of an oncall team maintaining 24×7 availability of all ITOC functions. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications Bachelors degree with major in Computer Science Engineering (or equivalent) from and accredited university will substitute for a minimum of 3 years experience in an IT Operations support role (Command Center Operations, Network Operations Center, Service Desk, etc.) performing hands-on IT Infrastructure & Application troubleshooting. 1 -2 years experience in a Cloud Engineering role. Certificates of Azure 533 and/or AWS SystemOps Administrator desired. Experience with Enterprise Management tools. Experience in a large Internet environment. Experience with implementing and supporting cloud native Systems Management. Experience maintaining the health of the cloud environment by keeping the systems current with upgrades and patches and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with the tools. Experience with the provisioning phase implementations to ensure appropriate setup of new services. Experience monitoring system in support of ongoing updating for platform and/or services being introduced into the cloud environment. Experience deploying Cloud / Virtualization solutions in an enterprise environment. Experience working with enterprise application and database architecture a bonus. Experience working within the enterprise software market or Internet industry is desired. Experience in automated pipeline build, continuous integration and continuous deployment. Experience troubleshooting Level 1 and Level 2 issues before handing over to a SME for expert level assistance. Knowledge of ServiceNow. Understanding and working of problems based on SLAs defined or of known or perceived criticality of an issue in absence of a defined SLA. Good grasp of fundamental security concepts with hands on experience implementing security controls and compliance requirements. Ability to perform basic administrative tasks such as unlocking user accounts, creating new users, giving access control, resolving network related issues, space management, resource management and resolving locks around resources. Ability to perform basic backup and recovery tasks. Ability to provide incident management summary to all levels of management. Ability to provide temporary work around and fixes until the issue is resolved permanently. Ability write and present effectively to all levels of management reports, presentations, metrics, etc. Ability to think strategically about business, products and technical challenges. Highly technical and analytical with background in system implementations and migrations. Willingness and ability to work overtime / alternate shifts as needed and possibly with short notice. Must be reliable and dependable; flexible to changing shifts to ensure proper staff coverage during planned / unplanned absences or special business processing times such as Quarter End / Year End. Ability to follow implicit instructions when needed but also use experience/working knowledge to “think outside the box” when solving issues. Needs to understand deviances from the norm and resolve using prior experiences and resources available. Being able to see the big picture is paramount.
