The core purpose of SCI is to provide credible and actionable insights, enabling strategy development and critical decisions. The Competitive Positioning and Insights (CPI) team within SCI is accountable is engaged in projects involving in-depth strategic and competitive analysis of various strategic markets or players largely in the Integrated Gas and New Energies (NE) space. The team produces business insights, so what and recommendations for Shell. Key clients / target audience for such projects are Country/ Line of Business (LoB) commercial teams, Competitive Intelligence community, Deal leads, Strategy Advisors and Global Gas community. Job Purpose Competitive Intelligence Advisor (CI Advisor) will be working primarily with New Energies community within Shell to develop products analyzing industry trends and actions of key competitors and markets. Job has two focus areas Regular Scanning He / She will be the focal point responsible for supporting the Digital Businesses team by maintaining the knowledge repository to support investment hypotheses and evaluations in line with Shells mobility aspirations. Ad-hoc Projects He/ She will also be part of the wider SCI New Energies Center of Excellence where he/she will support ad-hoc competitive intelligence (CI) projects with focus on both traditional and non-traditional competitors – across Mobility, Power, Industry and Buildings. Principal Accountabilities Brings good understanding of business environment specifically in New Energies & Mobility value chain for Digital ventures business portfolio Ownership & go-to person for Digital Ventures Businesses as well as New Energies CI database. He/ She collects, maintains & disseminates insights from the database. Builds a wide and active network within Shell that either provide inputs to database or ad-hoc projects, or are consumers for the same. Such teams will include, but are not limited to, all SCI teams, in-country business teams, Group CI, Strategy Consulting, E4 (incubator) and Shell Ventures Builds a network with external information providers (such as BCG-DV, IHS, WoodMac, Shell empaneled Knowledge Processing Outsourcing companies), and SMEs (VCs, Angel Investors, start-ups) to identify most optimal sources and obtain relevant information at a fast pace Proactively co-ordinates with members in own and other SCI teams to obtain the required inputs and disseminates data / knowledge from own area of work to these teams Understanding clarity on scope, planning and resource management, conduct market insights and analysis, manages client interface, and reports out the structured analysis with key so-whats / recommendations Demonstrates and promotes top quartile project delivery by strict adherence to quality framework and provide inputs for enhancing the framework Staff No direct reports Key Challenges This role will require working directly with Digital businesses team and New Energies CI community. Key challenge in the role is to work on unstructured requests, apply structured and independent thinking. The individual needs to take initiative to develop and maintain internal and external connects to continuously enhance understanding of the mobility space. He / she will also need to be good at multi-tasking, as several products needs to be often managed in parallel. The depth of insights and analysis needs to be of highest levels of quality, to produce unique and actionable insights. The incumbent will need to manage a high personal workload of quite disparate and complex tasks with high exposure, often under time pressures. Projects deliver recommendations / actionable insights for senior leaders and involve close teamwork with several global teams. Requirements Education and Experience University degree (Commercial / Technical); MBA would be an advantage, but a sound industry experience can compensate for not having an MBA Typically, 5 years of professional experience in Oil & Gas related industries / Oil & Gas related research / consulting Direct or indirect experience working in/for a New Energies business, will be highly valued Skills in programming that enable database management and visualization will be an added advantage Skills required Awareness of key market trends in New Energies & Mobility space and understanding of related energy policies and regulations Ability to gather (database and knowledge management) and analyze complex data resulting in synthesis and insights (e.g. competitive landscape) Good communication skills and credibility enabling person to convey complex information requests and analytical results in a clear and concise manner Project delivery skills involving planning own work, delivering hands-on and coordinating with a wide set of teams Leadership attributes High motivation levels and sense of accountability to deliver assigned components of work without close day to day supervision.
