This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team that is responsible for implementing and supporting the Enterprise LAN core delivery options to our customers spread across the world. Roles and Responsibilities The candidate will act in the capacity of a Senior Network Engineer working on tasks, incidents, projects throughout the Thomson Reuters Datacenter networks per approved change window and architectural guidelines. o Good technical operations skill with minimum supervision. o Provides technical and procedural consistency within the team focused on the implementation, service delivery and support of products, systems & networks. o Contributes to initiatives for driving down incident rates and working with 1st line operations (and operations engineers within specialist functional teams) to improve service recovery times. o Adheres to the implementation process to ensure that all aspects of operability are delivered whiles ensuring that existing service levels are maintained or improved. o The engineer will work on various Enterprise scale Cisco network hardware/software such as Cisco Nexus routers/switches in a virtualized environment. o The engineer will work to ensure that Enterprise LAN networks; Check Point/Palo Alto/Cisco ASA FW and load balancing F5 / Cisco ACE are implemented, maintained and highly available as deployed for the business’ applications. o The engineer will configure and troubleshoot the network that supports connectivity to the business’ applications. o The engineer will produce detailed implementation instructions or carry out required changes to complete tasks/projects, resolve incidents/problems, and for changes/improvements requested by management and the architecture teams. o The engineer is required to update/maintain all documentation requested by management and will be tasked with improving such documentation as required. o Provides a sound level of technical and subject matter expertise in one or more technologies and serves as a point of escalation for technical issues related to specialty. o Independently provides proactive problem management in order to deliver high service levels. Follow up on root cause analysis and resolution of problems. o The engineer must be prepared to participate 24/7 rotation shift schedule and weekend shifts, to be called upon after the normal business day when needed. Typical shift patterns are APAC (0000 to 0800 GMT); EMEA (0800 to 1600 GMT) and AMER (1600 to 0800 GMT). Required Skills o Hands-on experience with Cisco Nexus routers/switches, executing changes while staying within all architectural guidelines and Change Management procedures. o Coordinate upgrades and changes with business entities and other technology infrastructure groups. o Opening work tickets and providing support with production outages, assisting with product migrations/installations as the business requires. o Responsible for gathering/coordinating resources from other technology teams when necessary to complete project deadlines. o Monitor the incident queue and take ownership of issues needing resolution. o Required to be on weekend and 24/7 shifts o 7 yrs experience as a Senior Network Engineer using Cisco and Checkpoint technology, must include 2 yrs experience in these fields and F5 LTM/GTM or Cisco ACE technologies o Analytical and detail oriented. o Excellent written and verbal communications. o Independent-thinker and self-starter, who still can work well within team environment o Have knowledge of F5 load balancers. o Have knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, Provider-1; EIGRP/BGP/VRF routing concepts, Fabric Path, IP/ARP/MAC/Spanning-tree issues and configurations, troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and other devices, troubleshooting Cisco access-list, NAT issues. o Have knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, flags and be able to troubleshoot connectivity issues using Wireshark/Tcpdump/snoop. o Able to learn and use network engagement tools and systems such as OPNET, CiscoWorks, HP-NA(Opsware), Sevone, and Netflow o Knowledge of ITIL service management framework. o Good organizational skills, problem solving. o Good experience in one or more large technical environments, high complexity environments, or highly specialized environments. o Good working experience in multi culture environment with focus on customers, team work and driving results. Desired Skills o Knowledge of Financial markets technology an advantage o Exposure to ISO 9001, ISO 27001 an advantage.
