The Thomson Reuters News Analytics & Customer Insights (NACI) team is looking for a talented and dynamic Senior Software Engineer who will use his/her extraordinary development skills to plan, design and implement robust cloud-based solutions for its core assets. The News Analytics team supports the strategic analytics and business intelligence needs of the senior leadership team at Reuters News. In addition to providing critical analytical support and reports, the team also manages huge databases containing both new production data and customer usage data. In this role, you will be the go-to person for Cloud Engineering solutions. As a Cloud Engineer, you will provide professional and technical design including implementation and operational services to assist the News Analytics team carry out its cloud implementation strategy using AWS cloud-computing services. You will be responsible for all aspects of technical and system security design and its subsequent implementation. You will also configure tools to meet the business needs of our internal stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to engage with the business and technology groups to plan, document and carry out all associated implementations. Responsibilities Determine customer business requirements and standards that provides a foundation for the design of a comprehensive cloud solution Engineer and design relevant cloud based solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) to meet requirements of Reuters News Analytics Team Evaluate, design and plan the migration of a real-time news production database to a secure cloud environment Also help build a robust testing/operating environment to enable the News Analytics team carry out various functions involved in, but not limited to Gathering data from multiple sources Building and storing data in custom designed databases Provide for the ability to query and transform data to meet business requirements Migrate and reengineer SQL stored procedures Build custom reports and automations that cater to a wide variety of stakeholders Determine how to leverage services from cloud providers and identify gaps that must be met through other tools, software, or 3rd party services Work with Continuous Integration/Configuration platforms, tools to automate infrastructure provisioning, and deployment flow. Required Skills and Qualification Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 to 8 years of professional experience in IT/network engineering, security engineering, system administration or security operations AWS Professional Certification (e.g. AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional) In-depth familiarity with suite of AWS Services that are leveraged when providing automated DevSecOps solutions, including tools like CloudFormation, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, EC2, IAM, Route 53, S3, RDS, SES and VPC Hands-on experience with containers and container platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Pivotal Container Service, MesoSphere, etc. is required Hands-on experience and subject matter expertise in AWS infrastructure, including best practices Experience developing cloud formation scripts Experience configuring CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, CodeBuild, or similar technologies. Experience with code analysis tools such as SonarQube and Fortify Strong analytical skills with solid verbal and written communication skills Shows initiative, presents ideas to overcome challenges, is a self-starter Positive attitude, willingness to quickly learn and apply new concepts Maturity to work well within a dynamic team managing multiple projects and changing deadlines Knowledge of Azure and/or other cloud services is a useful but not necessary Preferred Skills Bachelors degree in computer science or relevant engineering field Working knowledge of databases (SQL, PL/SQL) 5 years of experience in supporting a mixture of Windows and Linux web-based applications Must have prior experience with Windows Servers and applications (MS Cluster/MS SQL/IIS), for implementation, administration and support roles SaaS/Cloud Development experience Cloud Computing AWS, Azure; Cloud Hosting AWS, CIS, OpenStack, CloudStack Virtualization platforms such as VMware / Xen and Hypervisor.
