Skill: c , security , python , c; Exp: 0-3 years; Role Summary The vision of the System Design Methods team is to lead the industry in state-of-the-art system simulation (load) and design methods for wind turbine design, enabling our customers to benefit from cost and performance differentiated products, bankable quality, & speed to market Essential Responsibilities As a System Design Method engineer, you will have responsibility to improve the fidelity and accuracy of load assessment & design methodologies, moving toward more optimum wind energy system designs. You will be a bridge between product segment teams & provide clear, thorough guidance to ensure design effectiveness, consistency & efficiency Research, develop, and deploy improved wind turbine loads and design methods and processes to drive accuracy, fidelity, and value optimization. Analyze method opportunities in the IEC-61400-1 Wind Turbine standard. Present and defend new methods to certification bodies to support certifications Develop probabilistic and reliability methods and reliability analysis Develop value optimization methods o Perform simulations, studies, DOEs, tests, etc. to support new methods o Assess risks and develop mitigation plans for new methods o Define validation requirements and perform or handoff as required Develop proof of concept tools related to method improvements. Collaborate with the tools team to define & handoff requirements for production tools. Update design practices Collaborate with the product segments to develop solutions to enhance application space, performance, and optimization Provide support and technical expertise for turbine operability/loads issues seen in simulation or in the fleet, working with component teams to develop solutions Drive a global team vision via effective communication and partnering across product segment and tools/technology teams Qualifications/Requirements B.S. significant experience in Mechanical, Wind, Systems, or Aerospace Engineering from accredited university or equivalent knowledge or work experience Expertise and demonstrated experience performing wind turbine load simulations in Flex5, SIMPACK, Bladed, ADAMS or other multibody software Demonstrated experience in developing and improving load and design methods and driving them to commercial impact. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the IEC and DIBt Ability and willingness to travel 4 weeks per year Fluent in English EU Work Permit If contracted in Spain Non-national candidates are responsible to know the minimum documentation requirements to be able to be contracted in country NIE- Social Security Affiliation Number in Spain (NAF) and Bank Account in Spain. They must be in possession of them at the time of start hiring. GE will not sponsor this requirement. Desired Characteristics M.S. / PhD Proved experience in Engineering from an accredited university or college Proved expertise and demonstrated experience performing wind turbine load simulations in Flex5, SIMPACK, Bladed, ADAMS or other multibody software Expertise and demonstrated experience with probabilistic design, design for reliability, optimization, wind turbine system engineering, wind turbine controls, wind turbine dynamics and stability, wind characterization techniques, and interfacing with wind turbine certification bodies Demonstrated experience using an aeroelastic simulation software (HAWC2) Programming skills for tools and custom studies (Python, C/C , R, Tableau, MATLAB) Demonstrated interpersonal skills and teaming within a global team.
