Work includes participation in New Product development and product maintenance projects. This position is responsible for performing design activities throughout the design life cycle, which includes design input and output activities, design, working with suppliers, verification, validation, and design transfer by meeting GE Healthcare quality requirements. Essential Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities includes Design, verification, validation, and design transfer of mechanical parts and subsystems for Life Sciences devices. Preparation of BOM’s and performing other design output documentation activities. Collaborate with cross functional teams. Develop innovative designs to meet all requirements for performance, reliability, cost, manufacturing, and service. Design parts and produce dimensioned drawings using ProE & Solid works. Identify critical dimensions for incoming inspection of parts. Develop and enhance product and part functional specifications. Perform tolerance and reliability analyses for mechanical designs. Participate in and lead design reviews for parts / subsystems / systems. Procure and ensure prototype parts meet prints and required performance. Determine and implement appropriate corrective actions as needed. Assist with assembly of prototypes. Develop test protocols, perform tests, and write test reports to verify component, sub-system, and product performance. Partner with internal stakeholders and/or contract manufacturing suppliers to ensure stable production processes at reasonable cost. Coordinate creation of tooling (dies, molds) with suppliers. Work with Process Development Engineer to establish robust assembly and test processes. Utilizing initiative and independent judgment construct and assist in evaluating engineering models. Perform basic trouble shooting encompassing multiple variables and unknowns to achieve root cause analysis and problem resolution. Conduct experiments and diagnostic tests, as required to draw conclusions. Utilize basic technical communications throughout the new product cycle to improve internal models and/or externally sourced components in terms of system performance, reliability, functionality, and serviceability. Provide evaluation, constructive feedback and leadership in the development of internal and external engineering, manufacturing, or service documentation. Quality Specific Goals Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible. Qualifications/Requirements Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Minimum 4 Yrs and Maximum 6 yrs. experience. Experience with Electro-mechanical system design. Hands on design and prototyping experience. Stress analysis and component/assembly design experience highly desired. Strong knowledge of Solid-Works, Pro-Engineer or similar CAD packages. Working Experience in the area of Sheet Metal design& Cable & Harness, Hands on working experience on PDM tools. Proven Ability to deliver real world designs in a fast-paced environment. Experience working within a regulated environment is a plus (ISO 9001). Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Must be a self-starter. Demonstrated innovative problem solving skills. Desired Characteristics Experience in the areas of Injected molded plastic design, pneumatic, elastomeric seals, labeling, and packaging. Experience in a highly regulated industry (FDA, TSA, Automotive, etc) Experience developing and supporting medical equipment. Demonstrated capabilities in thermal and mechanical simulation (FEA) Demonstrated project planning capability. Strong Influencing, interpersonal and communication skills.
