More information about Thomson Reuters and its financial performance can be found on Job Description Payroll Manager The jobholder is responsible to manage end to end activities and team management of the payroll function for a set of assigned countries. To provide a quality service to our customers and partner groups including employees, payroll providers, local authorities and internal stakeholders. The jobholder reports to the Regional Head of Payroll The Role involves (but not limited to) the following To lead a team of payroll specialists to execute the delivery of payroll services for multiple countries in a manner that is service oriented and consistent with established payroll policies, procedures and business requirements. Develop policies & procedures for payroll process and timekeeping. Manage the submission of payroll input data to payroll providers. Continuously improve the method Payroll receives data from our internal stakeholders to achieve operational efficiency. Ensure generation of the company payroll, including labor distribution records, vacation and sick leave accrual, overtime and withholding status. Review and approve payroll before each pay date by understanding the processes and supervising payroll staff responsible for the provision of payroll specific for local and international assignee employee deliverables eg data input, vendor processing, report reviews, payment authorization, statutory compliance, payroll accounting issues resolution. Deliver high quality payroll data and pay always in time. Monitor and ensure error free payrolls. Meet all government reporting requirements for payroll taxes, withholding and employer contribution. Ensure timely resolutions of any irregularities as necessary for posting accounting entries into GL before month end close. Ensure that compliance controls are operating effectively for statutory and audit requirements. Design and implement improvements on a continual basis. May be responsible for sales tax payment and stock option administration. Manage the relationship with payroll vendor and key stakeholders Act as advisor to units or sub-units and may become actively involved, as required to meet schedules and resolve problems. Staff Provides direction to staff according to established policies and management guidance. Administers company policies that directly affect subordinate staff. Motivate team members by creating an environment that facilitates teamwork and open communication Manage resource allocation within the team to ensure efficient and effective resource utilization Manage quality standards by providing direction on priorities and monitoring individuals and teams performance Responsible for staff recruitment, retention and development to increase team productivity. The successful applicant will possess Must have at least 8 years of experience multi-jurisdictional payroll, with expertise in UK payroll. Must have expert knowledge of UK payroll and payroll related regulatory compliances. Working knowledge of Payroll accounting / journal entries is required. Ability to resolve both routine and non-routine issues. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Strong written and verbal communication skills with exposure in change management. Proven ability to form strong customer relationships, an understanding of customer focus and service delivery. Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Drive & self-motivation with the ability to work independently.
