Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Network Specialist who possesses a positive and professional attitude to assist with the growth and development of our information technology infrastructure. This candidate must be comfortable working within a high tech, fast-paced, and team oriented environment for the purpose of assisting with the growth of our IT infrastructure and the research and development of new ways to innovate upon and improve our current technology.
Our ideal candidate will possess much more than simply the ability to configure and maintain the components of a network, but rather be able to analyze our goals and requirements in order to create the ideal infrastructure to power these systems. This will require an integrated understanding of each layer involved in the process of transmitting data over a network.
Candidate Requirements:
– Expert understanding of all core concepts involved in PC computing hardware
– Expert understanding of Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Unix based) and the ability to optimize the performance of each platform
– Expert understanding of network architecture, security, and optimization
– Expert understanding of L3 switched LAN environments
– Expert understanding of transport protocols (TCP, UDP)
– Expert understanding of Cisco networking products (Catalyst, PIX, ASA)
Preferred Assets:
– University level degree in Computer Engineering / Information Technology
– CCIE Level Cisco Certification
– Experience in the telecommunications industry (data networking, wide area networks, metro area networks, mpls)
– Experience in programming (socket programming)
– Personal interest in keeping up to date with ever changing technologies
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
– Local Area Network design and implementation
– Wide Area Network design and implementation
– Continual evaluation and optimization of current network infrastructure (latency reduction, performance optimization, and health monitoring)
– Administration duties including but not limited to monitoring network devices, modifying firewall settings as required, server administration (dns, dhcp, http, smtp, snmp), etc.
– Emergency troubleshooting
– Problem solving and implementation of solutions
