The Lead Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the Software Architecture, design & implementation effort for Locomotive real-time control systems. You will be responsible for leveraging best practices & demonstrating ability to learn & adapt to technologies & problem-solving abilities. Essential Responsibilities Responsible for providing technical leadership defining, developing, and evolving embedded software Work with Product Line Leaders/System Engineers to understand product requirements & vision Responsible for breaking down requirements/issues, documenting and estimating efforts Drive increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse Responsible to analyze impact of technology choices Responsible for software Architecture & implementation Responsible for software verification and validation (V&V) strategy and execution Own design reviews and approve code reviews. Qualifications/Requirements Master’s/Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics or Electronics and Telecommunication or Computer Science or Instrumentation or equivalent with at least 8 years of relevant experience in Object oriented design/development, design patterns, database tools and front end technologies. Skilled in breaking down problems, documenting problem statements and estimating efforts Strong ownership and focus on high quality delivery Experienced at driving technical excellence and mentoring team members Desired Characteristics Real time control development utilizing C / C and working with TCP / IP, Arcnet, Modbus and CAN networks Knowledge on Assembly and Pascal is an added advantage. Experience with Serial and Ethernet drivers, GPS interfaces, and FLASH memory implementations Experience with GUI development, S/W design and integration experience of the control systems. Proven history in delivering successful high quality embedded software products in C/C , under embedded real time operating systems such as QNX, GreenHills or VxWorks Domain knowledge in the following areas is a must interfacing with serial, Ethernet and CAN drivers, file management, communication systems interfaces, object oriented analysis and design (OOAD), task management, firmware development, and engine or power control applications Proven history in developing software for x86, Power PC (83XX, 55XX and 5XX) and 68K architectures About Us GE (NYSEGE) drives the world forward by tackling its biggest challenges.
