ROLE SUMMARY BCGs Corporate Development practice and its Global ValueScience Center team is seeking to recruit a Knowledge Analyst (KA) as part of the Shareholder Value team. The topic covers a broad range of corporate finance concepts targeted at generating sustainable long-term return on invested capital. It comprises total shareholder return, investor strategy, financial strategy, value patterns and rating advisory. Potentials candidates must bring prior experience in applying standard corporate finance concepts. Rigour skills in Excel-based financial modelling and expertise in assessing a business return-on-investment profile are essential for this role. The KA will be participating in measuring and interpreting the value of a business and its change over time from a strategic perspective. Being familiar with well-established value-based management disciplines is therefore a prerequisite to be considered for the position. This includes generating investment profitability profiles of all fashions, estimating cost of capital, performing discounted cash-flow calculations, as well as creating and validating integrated financial planning. The role may involve applying statistical modelling and regression analyses to link fundamental performance of the operating business as well as financial policy ratios with equity capital market valuation. We therefore prefer candidates with a good grasp of statistical math. The KA is also expected to be familiar with in-depth financial analyses of individual assets or entire sectors also involving specific adjustments that are unique to certain industries. Portraying capital market overviews and commentary on trends across geographies for an internal audience is also a key part of the job. It includes analysing the role of investors, their preferences, selection criteria, and patterns of behaviour and contrast it with a companys characteristics, competitive environment, and aspirations. Thus, prior experience in an investor-relations role including helping prepare materials for investor days is advantageous. The KA will play an important part in contributing to internal knowledge building in form of in-house projects and will assist topic team members in preparing reports covering the shareholder value topic in general or dealing with industry-specific aspects in particular. This is a unique opportunity to have an impact on the way the topic expands internally and how BCG positions itself as a thought partner in the market, at a crucial time for capital market participants and major industry players. It is also an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and development of the Shareholder Value topic domain within BCG, and to work on some of the most vital issues corporate clients and financial investors are facing today.
