This is a full-time open rank Academic Support position ideally suited for someone eager to join the Academic Support team for the Film and New Media program. The position focuses on providing academic and technical support to the Sound Stage, Equipment Center, Film Studio, and Post-Production Lab, with some administrative duties. Responsibilities, include equipment and asset management, maintenance, and implementing procedures for the safe and proper use of technical equipment. We encourage applicants with professional experience in film grip and electrical to apply.
The successful applicant will work closely with faculty and students to ensure the successful completion of student work assignments and projects. The scope of the job may require working evenings and/or weekends, particularly prior to openings of project presentations.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Preferred: Master’s Degree

+ Teaching film in an academic setting
+ Employment at a film rental house or post-production facility
+ Rigging and Sound Stage experience
+ Gaffing experience
+ Facilitate technical and film-craft workshops
+ Initiate and organize workshops with industry professionals for the FNM community
+ Provide one-on-one critiques of student work as required
+ Set Supervision for student shoots as required
+ Advise students on all aspects on bringing their projects to completion, in terms of lighting and electric
+ Create educational resources (online & print) for student use – one-sheets, guides, short instructional videos, etc.
+ Support J-Term and June term classes as assigned
+ Prepare Sound Stage and Film Studio for class use as needed
+ Advisement on equipment, hardware, and software purchases for the program
+ Work with program head to procure equipment purchases
+ Respond to technical support and equipment center questions
+ Manage, source and archive props
+ Liaise with contractors
+ Liaise with NYUAD Health and Safety Division
+ Maintain soundstage equipment
+ Maintain soundstage schedule
+ Actively participate in facilities and other meetings as required
