Documents and seeks to automate processes and procedures Responsible for repeatable products within defined project/work package boundaries, under supervision for critical services and driven through the change process. Accountable for creating low level designs on non-critical services (e.g. network, security, storage, compute), typically under supervisions and produced in line with design standards. Developing technical specialism in one or more area, providing technical guidance to more junior engineers Escalating complex issues to more senior engineers, interacting with external teams within BT as necessary e.g. TSO power team, problem management team. In addition to this they will interact with vendors through raising of progression of service requests. What you’ll be doing Day to day operational management incident management and case resolution. Provisioning of storage (Storage device selection/creation, LUNs, SMB/CIFS Shares, Volumes, Aggregates, Quotas to client specifications/design.) Manage and deploy LUNS and Volumes from NetApp Filers to multiple servers using the iSCSI initiator/NFS/CIFS/Fibre Channel. Provide on call support & day-to-day troubleshooting related issues / performance / network or capacity. Decommission Servers / Applications and remove from the SAN array/Filer, i.e. dismounting the storage from the Servers, un-exporting the devices, clean up the underlying storage. Ability to raise support cases through NetApp / EMC / HP / IBM Support sites from start to end. Working with service provider and vendors to resolve hardware issues. We’ll also need to see these on your CV Having good technical support experience of a wide range of Storage hardware (including provisioning and decommissioning) including HP XP2400, P9500 and EVA4xxx, EVA6xxx, EVA8xxx and P6xxx arrays; EMC VMAX, DMX and VNX arrays. IBM SVC, IBM V7000 and V840 arrays. Also NAS arrays including NetApp, EMC Isilon and HP9000. Being able to quickly diagnose performance issues before they become wider service impacting or a risk to the business. Using performance analysis tools like HP PA, EMC Unisphere, IBM Spectrum Control, NetApp tools etc. Having an understanding of storage provisioning and capacity management. An understanding and Knowledge of NAS and SAN technologies. Good written English so able to document technical processes. Keep up to date with the technologies and training. Continuously improving our processes and ways of working. Able to work to deadlines for project work. Administrator level knowledge of at least one of EMC Networker, NetBackup or Commvault. Working knowledge of UNIX/LINUX and windows system administration. Working knowledge of Networks, ability to work with Network Administrators to diagnose backup client connectivity issues. In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery principles, e.g, RPO/RTO, and backup regimes for differing client types (e.g. vmware vs Linux). Capable of installing backup server software and backup client software. Able to define backups and restore data A knowledge of a backup reporting tool would be an advantage e.g. DPA or BOCADA.
