You will perform complex financial and management audits in designated areas of the organization to identify, resolve, and recommend solutions to management control problems. You will serve as the project leader on standard audits, the senior member of complicated BU audits, or will conduct complex audits independently. Next to that you will be responsible for both leading and conducting financial and operational control audits, audits to test internal controls, accounting processes and compliance with established policies and procedures, and operational audits. You will prepare, and review reports to communicate audit results and propose recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve processes.
While this position is either based in Herentals, Belgium or Iowa, Des Moines (USA). There will be regular travel to various locations within Kemin’s Worldwide markets, such as Singapore, China, India and Brazil.

What you’ll be doing:
+ Planning, coordinating and performing financial and operational audits to assess compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency of Corporate and Business Unit processes, policies and procedures and the adequacy of internal controls;
+ Conducting audits in accordance with audit guidelines and departmental standards and test the financial and budgetary controls, documenting any weaknesses;
+ Mentoring and instructing junior level auditors financial and operational audits;
+ Outlining task schedules which comply with general audit program guidelines;
+ Ensuring that correct procedures are followed, and that documentation, policies and procedures are prepared in accordance with corporate standards;
+ Evaluating the operating effectiveness of internal controls related to financial reporting and disclosure controls;
+ Developing formal risk-based audit programs focused on key risks and related controls for a given audit area or activity;
+ Providing ad-hoc advice to help departments achieve compliance;
+ Supporting audit Director/Manager in responding to management queries regarding the internal control environment, and in carrying out investigations of alleged financial mismanagement, loss of assets, or other irregularities;
+ Making recommendations on audit systems and software and assist in the trial, implementation, and training;
+ Leading exit conferences depending on the scope, complexity, and sensitivity of the audit findings;
+ Being involved in implementation of audit recommendations;
+ Preparing reports and formulate recommendations designed to improve controls and/or methods of operation;
+ Interfacing with various levels of management on audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans;
+ Designing and performing quality assurance audits of all Kemin business units to assess compliance, effectiveness, and efficiency of Quality processes, policies and procedures, and the adequacy of internal controls;
+ Leading project audits and investigations related to Kemin’s whistleblower hotline.
What we expect of you
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent with at least 4-6 years of internal audit experience or 3+ years prior public accounting experience:
+ Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation required or must obtain within first year. Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE):
+ Preferably working knowledge of outside certifications including but not limited to GMP, HACCP, FAMI-QS, and ISO:
+ Must be fluent in English, multilingual a plus:
+ A high degree of personal motivation, a desire to make an immediate contribution, and a sense of urgency and excitement:
+ Able to work independently and in teams as the project needs dictate:
+ Ability to lead, instruct, or mentor junior level auditors;
+ Information gathering- determine best source or multiple source with comparison of dates;
+ Ability to change review/analysis during process as information or data requires;
+ Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with ability to identify and assess risk and exposures across a wide variety of business processes;
+ Able to manage and coordinate multiple concurrent audits/projects;
+ Able to influence and negotiate with others;
+ Able to develop risk-based audit programs focused on critical risk and control considerations;
+ High integrity with the ability to work with highly confidential information;
+ Ability to detect odor, ability to investigate if odor is “normal” or requires further review;
+ Ability to analyze without clear description- perform analysis on new process/procedures;
+ Being able to read and speak Mandarin;
+ Knowledge of Asian business is a strong asset;
+ Able to travel internationally on an extensive basis.
Working Conditions:This position is either based in Herentals, Belgium or Iowa, Des Moines (USA). You may be required to work in many offsite locations that may require effort in accessing or in moving about.
