We are currently looking for a Junior Lab Technician (shift: 7am-4pm) to join the Large Scale Production team. In this lab oligonucleotides are being made for in vivo, diagnostic and genomic applications using a chemical process through which each base is added sequentially. Together with your colleagues you make unique oligonucleotides every day, in accordance with the customers’ specific preferences.
In this position you will focus on the synthesis part of our large scale and custom made oligonucleotides, the cleavage from the solid support and the deprotection. Each oligonucleotide is considered a custom synthesis and requires individual preparation and handling what makes the job a challenge every day.
Ideally you are a candidate with a Professional or Academic Bachelor’s degree in a science related field. Experience is not required but can be a plus.
In addition to the science part we’re looking for a true team player who is proficient in English, has an eye for detail, can prioritize work independently and most of all has the eager to be welcomed by a warm team in a modern, international, multifaceted and supportive environment.
+ Perform the synthesis, cleavage from the solid support and deprotection of oligonucleotides.
+ Operate DNA/RNA synthesizers and other instruments in the lab.
+ Assist in the processing and documentation of all orders and projects.
+ Keep all the reagent bottles, pressurized gas cylinders and manifold liquid systems at levels to achieve successful operation.
+ Change waste containers and dispose of waste material.
+ Perform all necessary decontamination procedures.
+ Appropriately document all aspects of production.
+ Fill out all checklists and perform verification for others when necessary.
+ Bachelor’s degree in a science related field or equivalent through experience.
+ Excellent computer skills which include knowledge of the Internet, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
+ Ability to be on feet a few hours at a time.
+ Ability to adapt to changes in the process.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
+ Great multi-tasking skills.
+ Ability to interact in a professional manner with customers, co-workers and all levels of management.
+ Ability to work in a group or independently.
+ Read, write and speak English fluently. Dutch is a bonus.
