**About the opportunity**
A new opportunity exists for a Transport Engineer based in our Sydney office. Reporting to the Section Leader for Transport Planning & Advisory, this role will lead traffic engineering and transport planning project work under the guidance of senior professionals within the section. The ideal candidate will support the senior team members to place Jacobs at the front end of key transport infrastructure projects through the process of traffic engineering and civil design as well as transport planning. The role will also work with junior staff to produce high quality technical outcomes.
The role will involve:
Provide traffic engineering technical advice, including involvement in project delivery and managing project staff and subconsultants
Managing small projects involving traffic engineering and transport planning including documentation and scope control, financial forecasting, invoicing and client relations
Working collaboratively with other team members to deliver goals and targets of the team, section and operations centre
Supporting the ongoing development of the team as part of the Transport Planning and Advisory Section
The successful candidate should have:
Bachelor of Engineering degree (or approved equivalent)
Chartered Professional Engineer (desirable)
Theoretical understanding of traffic engineering and transport modelling principles
High level skills in transport analytics including coding and GIS, experience with big data (such as mobile phone data) is preferable
Experienced interpretation of outputs from transport modelling software packages
Knowledge of transport modelling issues and practices (i.e. strategic, meso and/or micro modelling including pedestrian modelling)
Advanced analytical ability, excellent written and presentation skills
Proven project management skills (achieving budgets, timeframe and customer requirement
