Role Summary:The Global Ops Tax Team has the responsibility to provide tax operations and governance to the legal entities operated by GE & affiliates across Asia countries. The candidate is required to be in contact with the local/regional business finance, business tax teams, statutory auditor, external tax provider and tax agency.

Essential Responsibilities:Services scope include filing annual local legal entities Statutory accounts (from Stat filing planning to board meeting and filing to the local regulators including KPMG audit where necessary) and preparing local tax returns (CIT, VAT and other local Taxes) under the strict control of the corporate tax team. The candidate is also expected to manage GE’s relationships with the external stakeholders such as tax authority and other government agencies.

Support tax operations teams with regard to tax compliance work and be the interface between finance teams and tax providers:

+ Collection, preparation and analysis of financial data, legal documents and other relevant information required

+ for local tax return filings

+ for local tax audits

+ under other statutory and/or regulatory rules

+ Ensuring accuracy & adequacy of business’ tax reporting processes by evaluating relevant policies and procedures

+ Review information prepared to draft statutory disclosures, co-ordinate completion of tax disclosures, co-ordinate statutory audit and resolve queries raised

+ Overseeing the quarterly tax closing cycles; including accounting for taxes, ETR analysis, quarterly reconciliations, FIN48 reserves computations, STIR, tax settlements and ASC740 activities for Corp entities

+ Assist in ad hoc tax projects such as tax transformation/simplification; tax automation;

+ Liaise with external advisors for assistance to manage tax disputes/assessments/audits and litigation.

+ Provide internal tax training


+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

+ Minimum of 10 years work experience or in similar capacity in a MNC or auditing firm in a tax compliance & management focus role

+ Experience in Australia direct tax compliance (preparation & filing is a requisite), advisory & managing tax audits/assessments

Desired Characteristics:

+ Strong expertise in full tax life cycle processes, accounting and compliance

+ Good communication – proven ability to develop strong professional relationship with stakeholders

+ Strong analytical skills & ability to technically discuss with local/regional business controllers, country Stat & Tax leader, local Corporate CIT Leaders and KPMG/auditors where necessary,

+ Team player

+ Has a mind for digital tax & using technology to improve processes

+ Knowledgeable of accounting and tax systems is an advantage

+ Knowledgeable of intermediate to advance MS Excel and Access are required skills

+ Experience in Australia & New Zealand taxation

+ Ability to travel
