As a technical member of Oracle’s Delivery organisation, provide technical delivery
for the successful delivery and implementation of complex, system solutions.
The position will provide configuration management, capacity planning, and
performance tuning for production environments. It also requires hands-on
involvement during system implementation to ensure that the appropriate level
of technical oversight and compliance to design standards is met.
This role is typically part of an Oracle project delivery team working on a
number of projects for the Department of Defence and may involve working
independently on several sites. In addition, there may be a requirement to
provide technical consulting to Oracle’s partners and suppliers. Occasional
interstate travel may be required.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
+ Conducts system health checks,monitors system performance, implements upgrades and patches and may beassigned to the role of Proactive Support Engineer to major customers;
+ Develops and implementstechnical systems solutions and ensures that customer requirements are met andthat the solution is deployed in accordance with Oracle’s best practices;
+ Works as part of a team toanalyse customer requirements and recommend appropriate system designsolutions;
+ Works closely with customers’project and implementation teams to identify potential areas for technicalimprovements, system enhancements and discrete tranches of work that can beimplemented to deliver defined business benefits for the customer;
+ Acts as a technical conduitinto Oracle’s internal resources and support systems to assist in resolvingcomplex technical problems;
+ Works with limited supervisionin conducting assessments and analysis of technical problems and providesrecommendations for resolution or corrective action;
+ May be assigned as a trustedadvisor to Oracle’s customers and partners.
Skills and Competencies:
+ Minimum of five yearsexperience in a similar technical role;
+ Sound technical skills andexperience with a range of technologies including Solaris 10/11 OS or OracleLinux (or equivalent), Sun servers and file systems, system management tools,proprietary switches and network hardware;
+ Experience with virtualisationtechnologies;
+ Working knowledge of TCP-IPprotocols;
+ Working experience with storageand backup technologies (Backup management technologies, Tape libraries, SAN,NAS, RAID);
+ Experience with Sun OracleHardware (for example SPARC, x86) and tape storage products
+ Provide technical assistance toOracle’s Project Managers in developing implementation and deploymentstrategies for systems solutions;
+ Assist with the management andresolution of technical issues arising from solution implementations;
+ Display high levels of energyand drive with strong business acumen, process orientation and excellent verbaland written communication skills;
+ Ability to prioritise workloadto meet project deadlines;
+ A Defence Clearance to TS-PV ismandatory;
**Detailed Description and Job Requirements**
As a member of the Support organization, your focus is to deliver post-sales support and solutions to the Oracle customer base while serving as an advocate for customer needs. This involves resolving post-sales non-technical customer inquiries via phone and electronic means, as well as, technical questions regarding the use of and troubleshooting for our Electronic Support Services. A primary point of contact for customers, you are responsible for facilitating customer relationships with Support and providing advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated issues.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will interface with the customer
* s IT staff on a regular basis. Either at the client
* s site or from a remote location, you will be responsible for resolution of moderately complex technical problems related to the installation, recommended maintenance and use and repair/workarounds for Oracle products. You should be highly experienced in some Oracle products and several platforms that are being supported. You will be expected to work with only general guidance from management while advising management on progress/status.
Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. Because of substantial customer interfacing, a demonstrated ability to work with customers on an independent basis with exceptional communication skills, while consistently achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction is essential. A Bachelor
* s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience is preferred with five years related experience. Experience with Oracle
* s core products, applications, and tools is important.
