Industry Lead – Buildings & Defence

KBR’s Defence & Buildings business is rapidly growing and we have an exciting opportunity for a Sydney based Buildings & Defence Lead to further develop and grow our business across New South Wales.

Reporting to the national Market Sector Manager, this senior position will be an integral part of the team and work on a range of exciting projects. The Industry Lead is responsible for leading the positioning, pursuit and then delivery of strategic projects within KBR’s Defence and Buildings business.

Being a position of both leadership and management, there are several key areas of focus:

**Leadership and strategic direction**

+ Demonstrate day-to-day leadership as a senior member of the team

+ Support the national Market Sector Manager to develop and deliver against agreed Business Plans.

+ Identify value-adds, innovations and other points of difference that KBR can deliver or develop further and connect these with KBR’s clients via regular discussion / engagement

+ Identify candidates and support the recruitment for new technical positions to either improve chances of winning new pipelines of work or effectively deliver on new and ongoing contracted scope.

+ Support the resource forecasts against sales and secured projects for the broader Operations team to appropriately organise themselves to support the projects within the Business Unit.

**Client relationship management, pursuit planning and proposal management**

+ Form and nurture relationships within the market to support development of new and ongoing repeat work for the business.

+ Undertake early-game positioning and complete pre-tender plans so as to improve the company’s probability of success prior to the tender brief arriving (via points of differences and value-adds).

+ Develop and maintain and pipeline of opportunities and agree targets to begin positioning

**Project delivery** **and engineering excellence**

+ Accountable, typically as a project leader, for the successful project delivery of KBR’s contracted services to the client against cost, time and quality objectives

+ Work closely with the client and internal staff to effectively manage expectations, contract compliance and achieve compliance with KBR systems and processes

+ Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team (both internal KBR disciplines as well as external sub-consultant partners) as a project manager

**Qualifications & Experience**

+ Minimum of 15 years’ experience in delivering Buildings projects.

+ Strong technical design ability

+ Degree or diploma in Civil/Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, suitable for admission as a full member of the Institute of Engineers Australia – CPEng (or equivalent)

+ Significant experience in an engineering consulting environment

+ Exceptional client and industry relationships within the buildings and construction industry, within the local market

+ Proven ability to develop win strategies and proposal methodologies that support winning new business

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

+ Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and maintaining positive industry relationships that result in opportunities converted into projects

+ Strong stakeholder management skills

+ Working knowledge of commercial arrangements and relationships

+ Strong practical knowledge of and commitment to health and safety
