Summary of Job Description:
To support the AbbVie AU External Affairs objectives in building AbbVie’s political reputation, build and further develop relationships with political stakeholders to deliver a favorable policy and political environment to advance AbbVie’s ability to bring innovative therapies to patients.
+ Maintain a deep understanding of current and anticipated future political and policy trends and ensure translation into Abbvie strategy, through the mapping and monitoring of the external political environment.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with key influencers within Federal and State
+ Governments, the Public Services, industry associations, health consumer, professional bodies and other relevant bodies.
+ Identify opportunities within the political environment to drive dissemination and incorporation of Abbvie and MA policy positions.
+ Drive delivery of specific TA specific? external affairs activities
+ Lead Medicines Australia co-ordination for Abbvie AU. Lead/participate in relevant Med AU and multi-company task force initiatives where relevant.
+ Provide internal support and advice on political stakeholder engagement, and development of policy positions.
+ Act as Brand Team member for key products, leading development and implementation of brand specific advocacy strategies when required.
+ Support successful and timely PBS listing of specific products through engagement with political stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for AbbVie PBAC submissions.
+ Post Graduate qualification in Health Policy/Government Relations or equivalent.
+ Knowledge of Australian politics
+ Understanding of PBS operation
+ Pharmaceutical industry experience
+ Understanding of Medicines Australia code of conduct

+ Diplomacy and discretion Superior writing and presentation skills to craft and deliver clear, effective messages.

+ Existing relationships with department of health and politicians
+ Previous government role
+ Previous experience in a lobbying role within a health related patient group or corporate environment
+ Policy development (Government/Allied Health Organisation)
